HIGHWOOD LUXURY HOMESBLUE FENCE REAL ESTATE

Living in Highwood, Illinois

A North Shore city about 24 miles north of the Chicago Loop, on the highest ground between Chicago and Milwaukee.

01 — At a Glance

High ground on the North Shore.

Thomas Curley suggested the name High Woods because the land was the highest ground between Chicago and Milwaukee and was covered with trees. Highwood was organized as a village in December 1886. The 2020 census counted 5,074 residents. Much of the city was built before World War II, so its streets have neoclassical, Italianate and arts and crafts bungalow homes, and stonework by local Italian masons.
